Artworks by Ana Kapor
Profile & Artwork
Ana Kapor is a Serbian-born painter (1964, Belgrade) living and working in Italy. Her figurative painting style directly refers to the Renaissance and Byzantine models, although, “Unlike the old masters, the protagonist man leaves the picture, and what in Renaissance art was the background becomes the foreground in his painting” (an excerpt from her biography).
She has extensively exhibited in Italy and abroad, including at the 54th Venice Art Biennale and at the Panorama Museum in Bad Frankenhausen (Germany), where she had a retrospective of her work together with that of his husband, painter Vladimir Pajevic.
Here follows a selection of her paintings, mostly adopting one point -central- perspective projections for some rather metaphysical scenes of singular buildings surrounded by natural environments.
